Lakes Location for Emergency Use.

The Postal Code of the Swanwick Lakes, New Road is SO31 7HE. This information has been placed on the notice board at the lakes entrance for anyone who needs to give directions in the event of an emergency, in order that the emergency services will know your location and arrive without delay.

The ‘what3words’ for the lakes entrance is inert.appealed.mercy and has also been put on the notice board.

Guest Ticket Donation Increase.

The minimum donation for a 24hr Guest ticket will increase from 1st January 2024 to £10 which is still good value and cheaper than many other venues.

Car Parking at Swanwick Lakes.

Could anglers fishing the lakes please park responsibly showing consideration for others wishing to park their cars there and not take up two spaces. Anglers are not to park by gates in a way that hinders the access for emergency vehicles/personnel - Water Manager.

 Dryad Exchange Tickets.

The exchange tickets for Dryad are now available for use from R. Gambie.

EA Bailiff Checks.

Regular checks are being carried out at the lakes on licences by EA bailiffs (one done during the last match). Athough no problems were found during the match visit, it has been mentioned that this has not been the case on previous visits. It seems that some pleasure anglers have been fishing without a EA licience and legal action is being taken by the authorities in the courts against them. Be warned!!

Unauthorised Fish Movement.

The committee has been made aware of some unauthorised movement of fish within the Swanwick Lake Complex. This action is against the club rules (Constitution Annexe A sections 2 & 3). This matter is taken very seriously and action will be taken against any member found moving fish between the lakes.

Unsociable behaviour

As a reminder after a recent incident on one of the lakes, if a club member finds that any member(s) of the public are committing an offence e.g. destroying the Wildlife Trust property, creating a disturbance or building a fire/barbeque at the lakes then they should inform the Head Bailiff (mobile number on rear of membership card) immediately regardless of the time of day, who will deal with the situation and pass the information on to the appropriate authority. The member is not expected to approach the person(s) personally.

Green Task Register Reminder.

Please note that there is a book normally available at the monthly meetings for members to insert any tasks required on the lakes that they believe need attention either on or before the planned work parties. These tasks will be prioritised by the Head Bailiff and carried out under his instruction. This note is for those who did not see the information previously on the web site, newsletter or during the monthly meeting earlier in the year.

Website Forum Reminder

Just a reminder to members of the forum section held within the members area of the website. This is for members to raise topics for discussion by other members/committee. This section is now of more importance due to the frequency of members meetings per annum now being reduced.

Monitoring dog walking and cycling activity around the ponds.

In order to keep the Hants and Isle of Wight Naturalist Trust informed of dog/cycling activity around the ponds it would be helpful if you could email Geoff Purkiss the information at secretary@pgrblac.org.uk

Please email the following information after your visits to the ponds:

Please add ‘dog walkers’ to the subject line when emailing. Many thanks.

Keepnets and Landing Nets

Keepnets and landing nets prior to being used at the lakes should be either dry or have been in sunlight for a minimum of 30 mins. This is the recommendation from DEFRA in order to reduce the risk of the spread of any disease between locations.

Lakes Access Road.

The latter part of the access road to the lakes complex has started to show an increase in the pot-holes again with a couple increasing in size. It is suggested that the members travel along this part with care to avoid them and possible vehicle damage. The club is not the owner of the access road and is not responsible for any damage caused.
